This weekend was my cousin's bachlorette part/bridal shower. We went to Lips and got the HOTTEST waiteress I've ever seen. She had hips. Actual, female hips. I liked her most because she called everyone "baby" and did some really athletic high kicks on stage. After Lips we had a post-drag show party at my ex-aunt's friend's multi-million dollar condo downtown. We sat in the master bedroom with the lights off, gazing out at the convention center, speaking quietly about the beauty of it all. Melissa interrupted our peaceful reverie, saying, "When you guys are done making out in here we have some games to play." Ooooh Melissa. So we played games. I found out that I know Jennifer better than anyone else in the room, and won a $5 Starbucks gift card for it (which I used today). Then we played some dirty games which I will leave you to imagine up on your own. I was surprised by how much I liked Jennifer's friends. One of the girls was even white. Weird. The bridal shower was, admittedly, more dull. But that's how it's supposed to be, yes? The Bouchers sat on one half of the table and the Saucedos sat on the other; while they cried about how wonderful Jennifer and Donovan will be together, we made sarcastic cracks under our breath and laughed. I keep thinking about just HOW GOOD Melissa's speech will be, and just how horribly it may go over with Donovan's wedding guests... So that was this weekend. That's all I did. Not even a drop of homework.
I turn 21 two months from today. I'm still not decided on what I want my first karaoke song to be.
The shuffle on my ipod has been really good lately. It's like itunes knows it's fall. Speaking of music, I need more variety. I'm listening to Devendra Banhart-based radio on Pandora and am very happy. So far it's given me the man himself, Veviter, Neutral Milk Hotel, someone named Kelley Stoltz, and The Finches. I need more M. Ward. And suggestions for music to listen to. SOOOOO GO! Give me some.
Speaking of music, my ipod keeps skipping. As in, it starts playing a song and then skips to another song 15 seconds in. I don't know why and I don't know how to resolve this problem. It doesn't like Lady Gaga (except for Paparazzi), Jenny Lewis, Elvis, M. Ward, and Frank Sinatra. It loves 80s, Regina Spektor, Death Cab, Simon and Garfunkel, and Rilo Kiley. I keep hoping the problem will fix itself, but alas, it hasn't. I don't know, I don't know. I mean, my ipod's only a few months old. Why do I have such terrible luck?
I want to buy pumpkins and make pumpkin spice bread and light pumpkin-scented candles and drink red tea and curl up in a blanket and watch a nice movie. I love love love LOVE fall.

I've had that problem with an Ipod before. I think it has something to do with how Itunes syncs the music, for some reason it messes up sometimes. Try taking those songs off and then reloading them.
For music, I don't know if you already listen to Andrew Bird or not but I highly suggest him.

Mark suggested Andrew Bird to me too and that was a success.
I have heard that people have many fun times at Lips but I have never been there.

Thanks for BOTH suggestions Mark. I will try and see if it works/listen to Andrew Bird. Which songs would you recommend?
And to Chris, I'm not sure if a straight guy could ever like Lips. There were a few guys there that looked so unhappy/uncomfortable. But hey, you'll never know until you go :)

I don't know if there's any individual songs I could recommend, there's too many good ones. You can't go wrong with the album Armchair Apocrypha. In my opinion it's his best, pretty much every song on it is great. If you like that I can give you other suggestions.

Did you try restarting your iPod? You know, holding down the center button and the Play (or Menu) button?
As for music for fall, I blogged almost a year ago about my previous fall playlists, it can be found here: http://onwebtape.com/blog/405. I would probably recommend "Autumn Leaves Revisited" for you..

JEFF! Thank you. That looks like a very good selection of music for me to dip into. And yes, I have tried restarting my ipod but alas, it was to no avail.
Thanks for the album suggestion, Marky Mark. I'll get to listenin'.

Have you gotten the Monsters of Folk album yet?

No, Mark. I have not.

Well... then you should add that to your new music list as well.
