I saw Up In the Air with Katy and me mum today.  We went to Grossmont Center where we ate lunch at a severely overcrowded Panera, browsed Pier 1 (the first step to recovery is admitting I have a problem, I know, I know...), bought throwback Pepsi from Target which is waaaay more delicious than high-fructose-corn-syrup-Pepsi, and popped into Barnes and Noble real quick to browse Manga and Coolio's cookbook.  Then we went to see the film.  I quite liked the movie (mix Thank You For Smoking with Away We Go), and believe my girl from Twilight (Anna Kendrick) did indeed represent.  However, the theater was small and jam-packed with senior citizens.  If that isn't terrible enough, the one sitting behind us was a real wisecracker.  It's great that you "saw that coming" and yes, maybe the backpack speech got tiring after a while, but there's no need for you to exclaim it to the entire movie-going public.  George Clooney's character made a comical stereotype-based observation about old people in the movie and I laughed louder than anyone else there.
Speaking of movies, Katy and I also saw It's Complicated on Friday night.  It felt like Thursday Sister Movie nights from back in the day.  Let me explain.  Maybe three, four years ago, I had a very set evening schedule.  Monday and Tuesday I had off, Wednesday and Friday  were dedicated to the Szafranskis, and Thursday, Saturday and Sunday I worked.  However, every Thursday night after I got off from Nicolosi's, Katy and I would go to the movies.  I cannot possibly imagine how much money I spent that year on theater-going, but it was completely and absolutely worth it.  We would wear sweatpants and slippers, I would bring a sandwich or salad fromt the restaurant and we would catch a late showing of everything and anything that was playing.  I was a movie genius.  Then something happened, maybe summer, maybe a new work schedule.  Anyway, we fell out of the habit and ever since then, it just hasn't been the same.  However, occasionally we will revive the spirit of those nights as we did this week.  It was just another blaise movie, except for the perfection of Alec Baldwin and John Kracynski (who held his own against the seasoned actors of the film).  It was dumb and funny, which I expected.
I need to still see Avatar just so my hate for it can be justified and cemented.  I would also really like to see A Single Man and The Hurt Locker and Crazy Heart and anything that could possibly be a contender in the Academy Awards.  What's crazy is that there are going to be 10 best picture nominees this year (in an attempt to stimulate revenue at the box office, I hear).  TEN!  Let's throw some predictions out there, eh?
1) Inglorious Basterds
2) The Hurt Locker
3) A Single Man
4) Precious
5) Avatar
6) Invictus
7) The Lovely Bones
8) An Education
9) Crazy Heart
10) Up In the Air
Maybe A Serious Man or The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus, but those didn't do so well, so I'm not so sure.
GAAAH I LOVE OSCAR SEASON.

Hey Gina, do you remember the last movie you saw to justify and cement your hate for it?
