Where have you been?

6 weeks, 15 cities, 4500 photos and 30,000 miles later, I am finally back, alive and well (as some apparently thought otherwise). I'm apologize for my sudden absence, and for my lack of communication during it, but some things just need to be experienced alone, and for yourself. There is no way the photos that I could show you or the stories I could tell you would be able to fully encapsulate how the experience was for me, but to describe it in a word, it was beautiful. I know I have a lot to catch up on, and I will eventually have a lot to tell you, but for now this is just to say that I’m glad to be back, and that I’ve missed you all (yes, especially you, Jeff)!

JOEY. JOEY JOEY JOEY JOEY JOEY JOEY JOEY JOEY. I AM IN LOVE WITH YOU AND EVERYTHING YOU DO. YOU LOOK LIKE CRISTO IN THAT PICTURE DID YOU SEE BOB BURNQUIST!?

It sounds like you went on a rock and roll tour. I don't think you should tell anyone your stories at once, just let them trickle out over the next 10 years or so. "Oh, did I ever tell you about this one time I was in Scottland and got drunk wearing a kilt and then ate a dog?" I vote for it. Joe.

I can't even form a comment right now, as you can tell because I am so much excite.

I have so much to tell you and so much for you.
In case you were wondering, I went job hunting for you.

I want to hear all about it! Though I should warn you, since I never cured my travel bug by getting out of SD for more than 5 days (to a place I had already exhaustively explored at that) I may break down in furious, jealous tears during your tales. But I still want to hear details.

Joe, let me know if you wanna hang out this weekend since you will be up here (I think). Mark should come too.

I'm glad you're alive, for Jeff's fear of your possible death began to get me worried too!
You're photos must be amazing, I can't wait to see them!

@ Jeff, my darling, I will love you always and forever. I agree with your idea, too. Keeping my trip as mysterious as my absence will make that much more intriguing. Anyway, I can't wait to hear about everything and am extremely interested to see what you have for me. Oh, and also, I was just watching the Giants game and Zooey Deschanel came up and sang during the 7th inning stretch (*swoon*). It's definitely a good time to be in SF...

@ Gina, we should meet up for coffee! I would love to tell you all about it. Just think of it as a little push in the right direction!

@ Chris, wow, I can't believe that concert is already this Sunday.. And yes, if it's OK with you, I would love to come up and spend the weekend there with you and Ashley. I was thinking I could get up there Friday and leave Sunday night after the concert? I haven't talked to Mark though, so I'll get in contact with him and see if he wants to join...

@ Annie, I can only imagine the extent of Jeff's worrying that you had to endure. Thank you for keeping him sane in my absence! I have a lot of photos, most of them terrible, but I'll try my best to get them up as soon as possible. I'll keep you posted!

Just let me know, there might be a problem because I think Ashley is going camping this weekend, maybe she can confirm... So we would need to stay at my shitty place, which is shitty, so if you still wanna come up make sure to bring an air mattress and a blanket or something.

Wait what concert is this weekend in LA? I'd love to come up. My phone is dead btw in case you tried to contact me Joe.

Mark, I believe he is seeing Sufjan?

Joseph Flores • October 20th 2010 • Reply
@ Chris, don't be ridiculous, your place will be fine. So long as I can mooch food off of you, I'll be fine.

@ Gina, I'm free as a bird these days, so just call me up whenever you're free! I'll be looking forward to it!

@ Mark, Yep, Sufjan is playing at the Wiltern on Saturday and Sunday. I'm going Sunday. Would you be down for leaving on Friday after work and leaving Sunday after the concert? I thought it'd be nice to spend as much time up there as we can..

@ Jeff, so what did you find on your job hunt?!

JOEYEEYEYYEYYEEYEY.

man, Joe. I just dug through my bookmarks (and you know how I bookmark things*) and it looks like all of the postings I saved for you expired. Bummer. Oh well, here were the two places – there are still plenty more openings. I am not really sure what you do / want to do but I see the words "Research Associate" and "Research Assistant" and that sounds about right.
If I find you a job, will your parents like me more?

UCSF! - these homies are super close to downtown SF, so that is pretty cool. Also, should I ever hurt myself, this is my hospital.

Genentech – vatos are a bit south (Mountain View?) but apparently they rent out AT&T Park (Giants stadium) for their company parties, so that is legit.

I will look more so I can send you specific postings. Anything I should keep my eyes open for?

* You probably don't, actually.

Dude Jeff, thanks so much for going on the job hunt for me! You were right on the money with "Research Associate"... those are the exact positions I'm applying for at the moment. I might as well try applying for the position at UCSF cause that'd be amazingly legit.. You certainly don't have to do this for me, it's about time I handle things for myself.. BUT, if you feel so inclined, I'm interested in any type of scientific research job that is looking for a BS in Biology or a related field with 3+ years of professional experience.

dude, Joe, I got you homie - don't you fret.
Although, any job that I may send you comes with one catch; you could probably imagine what that catch is...
