Words Fail Me All the Time
A book I made in Photoshop, which ended up being a collection of my favorite typefaces (it features Franklin Gothic, Din, Trade Gothic, Helvetica, along with some others).
Pages were printed on transparency paper and overlayed when bound together to create a stunning layer effect.

If I Could Remember This Forever
This book I made for my girlfriend. This is the unfinished version of it, as the final one got lost.
It was compiled of images of us and the things we have done, accompanied by a poem that I had written for her. The type is set in Helvetica, of course.

Hello Destiny Munich
This is a simple mock poster for a band done in Photoshop. At the time, I wasn't familair with
grid-based design principles and David Carson was my hero... if you couldn't tell.

Hello Destiny Moscow
This piece was done at the same time as the above one but I like it much more.

Ugly & Dirty
For awhile, I was really into the American abstract-expressionist, Robert Rauschenberg;
this poster was my ode to him. It was done in Photoshop (CS-1 days) using digital photos, scanned polaroids, scanned drawings and an infinite amount of brushes. Ahh, grunge...

Planet Earth
This re-cut tribute to the BBC's spectacular series was edited in After Effects with <512mb of RAM, which was the biggest mistake I could make. The audio track is a mash-up that I made with such artists as Sigur Ros, Daft Punk and Justin Timberlake, which was done in Apple's Garageband (mistake #2).

Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind
A movie trailer made for Michel Gondry's Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, which is my favorite movie of all time. The workflow on this one was a lot better than the previous video. The video was edited in Final Cut Pro while the sound design was done in Ableton Live (the background track was done by Eluvium).

Fast and Furious
This video speaks to my abundance of free time that I once had. It is a video mash-up of all three Fast and the Furious Movies (this was prior to the newest one) with audio by 65Daysofstatic. I feel that this is the only type of movie that could actually benefit from this type of editing.

Drug Use PSA
This is the result of an assignment for a video production class, which was to make a commercial. I filmed my friend having a "bad trip" and cut it all together. Once again, the sound design was done in Ableton Live with audio back-up from 65Daysofstatic and Radiohead.

Exactly Where I Want to Be
All the songs featured here are what I call, "music for sleeping". They were all done solely by me for my girlfriend in Ableton Live. This song is a "cover version" of John Denver's Annie's Song that begins in a bed of synth and ends in a roaring cacophony from a distorted choir.

Nothing Haunts Us at Night
Another cover song, this time of Radiohead's True Love Waits. This song features two slow-moving cellos, which get doubled to create a new shimmering string section. The song is closed with a sweeping reversed piano arpeggio, reminiscent of Sigur Rós..

We Can Hide Until Morning
This song is a bit older and not a cover. Hidden under layers of distortion, delay and reverb are cut-up sound clips from Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. Highly effected recordings of crashing waves make for a dense and swelling background.

A Year Later
The shortest song here, A Year Later starts off with a clanky old piano which soon gives way to a lush synthesizer and a chopped-up recording of a Southwest flight attendant giving the usual announcements on a flight to San Francisco. Coincidentally, this song shares cords with Bachelor Kisses by The Go-Betweens.

Jeff Micklos! [jef - mǐk.lōs]
I am a developer who believes in creating and pushing forward a more social and open web through any technological means necessary. I believe the notion of a “one-way web” is an outdated fallacy and that multi-way communication across the Internet has taken its place. I develop and design tools that will further enable and progress the dialog that so many millions have started.
I currently reside in San Diego, California where I do web consulting and development.
I have a Bachelors Degree in Interactive Media Design and a skill set that includes all of the Adobe Creative Suite (including After Effects), Apple's (Final Cut) Pro Studio, Digidesign's Prootools and Ableton Live. But most of the time, I am a web developer and you can check out that work here.
