I know I post a lot on this... I hope that's a good thing. Let me know once I start to get annoying. But I have a problem with Last.fm.
Since when did I listen to Linkin Park songs 1678 times?! It's my number one artist, and I just don't understand. The only album that I have of theirs is Reanimation, and I do love it.... but 1678? Really?! I guess I've just got to listen to a lot more music to make it go down, lol.
Anyway. I've also been entertaining the idea of a major/minor/certificate combination, and I want to know what you guys think
Major: Spanish/French Split major (which requires 7 advanced level spanish classes and 7 advanced level french classes) Additionally to this, I want to be on a Latin American track, which just specifies the Spanish part a bit more to involve real, current issues. Minor: Maybe public policy? Certificate: Documentary Studies. I need 6 classes to get a certificate with doc studies... I'm taking my first in the fall, which is a photo doc class, and I'm hoping to document the farm workers in north carolina (I'm hoping there will be a lot of crosses between this and my spanish major).
I think I can find a way to do that. I have a feeling that I'm going to be fighting for Mexican rights at the border for the rest of my life, and documenting the risks that people take to make their lives better. I want to cross the border with a group at least once in my life, to live that ridiculous journey, to take pictures, to hear the stories of the people that are changing our country.
It's been projected that as early as 2050, we're gonna be a minority-majority nation, which will be an interesting time to live in. We'll be in our early 60s... and I would LOVE to have photos of the beginnings of another change to the US. Of course, these changes have been happening for decades, but now there are enough Latinos to shift the presidential votes, to shift the language, to shift the demographics of every town, every county, every state.
Hah, can you tell my interests no longer reside with chemistry? That's enough about this for tonight, I'm sure you will all get an earful of this stuff when I come home. love

Oh, Summer. You can never post too much. I am really glad that you are so interested in real issues, that seems to be rare these days. I say, you go for everything that you can. It is a great opportunity, you might as well take everything out of it. Either way, I am excited to hear much more about this in a week...
