KIKI DONEZ!!!11!!@!!22!!
Posted on May 3, 2008 by Summie P
I not-so-successfully completed my first year of college. Who knew it'd be so hard? I'm kind of an idiot for not anticipating this much difficultly. Now I'm sick from stress, and eager to be home Tuesday night. Great success.

My goals for the rest of the year:
1. Do well in my summer classes
2. Learn French
3. Take a photo everyday
4. Get a passport
5. Have a great week in SD
6. Make a good documentary in the Fall
7. Pick a major/minor/certificate program
8. Be happy

Following Directions
Posted on May 1, 2008 by Summie P
Ok, Since I do love the idea of the blog and photo tips of the day, I think it's high time I follow directions, so this is about my favorite scene in my favorite film.

Of course, this is an impossible thing to describe. I don't even know which movie to pick. Of course, the cinematography of The Fountain is unrivaled, the beauty of every single shot, every scene, every line in that film pulls at my heartstrings even when I only think about it. The shot is a close up of the hairs on the back/side of her neck, and you see Tommy's lips kissing her, just there. I'm sure you know what I'm talking about.

Also, Science of Sleep.... when Stephane is TROMP TROMP TROMP on the records... ahhahaha. So funny, and when he is telling Stephanie "I make things with my hands" and does this ridiculous hand gesture. That move is hilarious.

:( All my favorite movies remind me of home. Four or five days left, guys.

1678
Posted on April 28, 2008 by Summie P
I know I post a lot on this... I hope that's a good thing. Let me know once I start to get annoying. But I have a problem with Last.fm.

Since when did I listen to Linkin Park songs 1678 times?! It's my number one artist, and I just don't understand. The only album that I have of theirs is Reanimation, and I do love it.... but 1678? Really?! I guess I've just got to listen to a lot more music to make it go down, lol.

Anyway. I've also been entertaining the idea of a major/minor/certificate combination, and I want to know what you guys think

Major: Spanish/French Split major (which requires 7 advanced level spanish classes and 7 advanced level french classes) Additionally to this, I want to be on a Latin American track, which just specifies the Spanish part a bit more to involve real, current issues.
Minor: Maybe public policy?
Certificate: Documentary Studies. I need 6 classes to get a certificate with doc studies... I'm taking my first in the fall, which is a photo doc class, and I'm hoping to document the farm workers in north carolina (I'm hoping there will be a lot of crosses between this and my spanish major).

I think I can find a way to do that. I have a feeling that I'm going to be fighting for Mexican rights at the border for the rest of my life, and documenting the risks that people take to make their lives better. I want to cross the border with a group at least once in my life, to live that ridiculous journey, to take pictures, to hear the stories of the people that are changing our country.

It's been projected that as early as 2050, we're gonna be a minority-majority nation, which will be an interesting time to live in. We'll be in our early 60s... and I would LOVE to have photos of the beginnings of another change to the US. Of course, these changes have been happening for decades, but now there are enough Latinos to shift the presidential votes, to shift the language, to shift the demographics of every town, every county, every state.

Hah, can you tell my interests no longer reside with chemistry?
That's enough about this for tonight, I'm sure you will all get an earful of this stuff when I come home.
love

It's Natural to be Afraid
Posted on April 27, 2008 by Summie P
Finals start tomorrow...not really looking forward to that. So I'm distracting myself with webtapeness. My trip home may be delayed by a day or two, I'm still trying to figure everything out. Meanwhile, I'm enjoying the free soda (it's Student Appreciation Week), and the comfiest couches in the world in the student center. :)

I want to come home so badly. I miss everyone. Eight/Nine/Ten more days(?)

Try proving that Jesus getting baptized is historically reasonable.

Go on, try it.

Chips....
Posted on April 22, 2008 by Summie P
I like sweet things. I have a sweet tooth like you wouldn't believe. I usually don't like salty things... this includes chips, overly-salted french fries, salty eggs, anything that you ADD salt to... I just don't like it. But I do get the craving (probably due to a salt deficiency in my body) sometimes. Like today. I recently discovered the New! Doritos Collisions. Basically two chip flavors in one bag, genius right? Soooo good! Especially when you can get Cooler Ranch and Nacho Cheese in the same effing bag. This is exactly what I want in a bag of chips (unless it's Guacamole chips, that shits the bomb!). But today proved to be an epic fail.

Since there are only so many colors to represent the hot side and the cool side of the Doritos variety... I seem to have grabbed a 'Hot Wings/Blue Cheese' bag. Which, in theory sounds good, other than the fact that I don't like Hot wings (unless they're from Hooters and I'm with the best people in the world) and I simply detest Blue Cheese.

But because I am a stubborn, cheap bitch, I'm going to sit here and eat my chips with a smile on my face.
